High quality thermal transfer ribbons

transfer ribbon.jpg

Thermal transfer printing is a digital printing process in which material is applied to paper (or some other material) by melting the coating of a thermal transfer ribbon so that it stays glued to the material on which the print is applied.

Thermal printing technology can be used to produce colour images by adhering a wax-based ink onto paper. As the paper and ribbon travel in unison beneath the thermal print head, the wax-based ink from the thermal transfer ribbon melts onto the paper. When cooled, the wax is permanently adhered to the paper.

This type of thermal printer uses a like-sized panel of thermal transfer ribbon for each page to be printed, regardless of the contents of the page. Monochrome printers have a black panel for each page to be printed, while colour printers have either three (CMY) or four (CMYK) coloured panels for each page.

We only provide high quality thermal transfer ribbons which give you a high quality image and prolong your printhead life.

Beware of low cost thermal transfer ribbons. They not only give you poor print quality but they do not dissipate the printhead heat and this, in turn, means you will need to replace costly thermal printheads more often.
